Dwaine Millard, Senior Vice President, General Manager, Literacy Initiatives/Family and Community Engagement, Scholastic Education Solutions, introduces a new series on the EDU blog.
There has never been a more critical time for educators to connect and engage with families, community partners, and each other. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, we’ve seen educators develop inspiring new ways to both give and receive support from their families. As we continue to live with uncertainty and a changing landscape, Scholastic is here to help accelerate learning in school, at home, and everywhere children and their families visit.
I am pleased to announce that the Scholastic Literacy Initiatives team is launching a series of blog posts, along with several accompanying webinars, titled Literacy Bridges in Family and Community Engagement. The series will be published right here on EDU, monthly from December 2021 through May 2022. Each piece will focus on the key components of effective partnerships that bridge the gap between schools, families, community partners, and public libraries. The series will include timely insights from leaders as well as examples and lessons learned from educators and caregivers who have found meaningful ways to increase engagement in literacy and foster student motivation and success.
Although many of us around the country are watching the temperatures dip, it is the perfect time to begin thinking about summer learning plans. We hope you will learn something new and find meaningful ideas to share with your colleagues.
