U.S. Test Scores Remain Stagnant While Other Countries See Rapid Rise

The Huffington Post's Joy Resmovits has a nice writeup on the recent PISA test results, which measure student achievement in 34 OECD countries.

She quotes Amanda Ripley, whose recent book, The Smartest Kids in the World (a favorite of mine this year), looks at the student experience in three high performing countries: Finland, Poland and South Korea. "To see Polish students performing at the level of kids in Finland in math is remarkable, given that they have a 16 percent child poverty rate... It's a long way from Finland in every way," she told Joy.
