An article that claims arts education is a "must-have" is a must-read for me. I wanted to share this as the conversation continues on how to best promote critical thinking and creativity among students. The article goes into detail about how the arts help and also cites a 2010 survey by IBM which IDs creativity as a predictor of success. Very interesting. Common Core has a stated goal of promoting critical thinking and from Primary Sources, we heard from teachers that the majority believes the new standards will have a positive impact on students' ability to think critically and use reasoning skills. But we can't rely only on math and ELA standards, can we?
Take a moment and look to the arts with this article. What do you think?
