Voyager 1: A moment to be in awe of science and math

Earlier this month, NASA announced that the Voyager 1 spacecraft (launched back in 1977, before I was born) had left the solar system, becoming the first probe to ever reach interstellar space.

At home, this news sparked a discussion between my wife and I about how ridiculously far that is from our Brooklyn apartment -- but how if you compare it to the unfathomable size of the univerise, it's not all that far.

Later, I Googled "How big is the universe?" and stumbled upon this great video that raises some fascinating questions related to science, math, and even philosophy. Turns out I was right all along: I am the center of the universe! (My observable universe that is...)

Educators: Was Voyager a topic of conversation in your classrooms earlier this month?
