Robert L. Green, Ph.D., is a former president of the University of the District of Columbia and former dean of the College of Urban Development at Michigan State University. He is now a dean and professor emeritus at MSU. From 1965–1967, Dr. Green worked for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as the education director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The author of many books and articles, Dr. Green is co-author of Expect the Most—Provide the Best, a book that examines the impact of expectations and innovation on education. He has worked on school reform efforts in Memphis, Detroit, Las Vegas, and Portland, Ore. In addition, he has provided staff development for many public school districts and he promotes literacy and high expectations for early learners nationwide.
